SHILLONG, Nov 2: The local Khasi employees working with Inclen Somaarth, a firm based at Mawngaprim, finally received their pending salaries on Saturday after the intervention of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Mawphlang Unit in collaboration with the Sohiong Circle.
Sources on Sunday confirmed that around 30 Khasi youth employees were affected by the non-payment issue.
The KSU units had visited the company’s office on Friday following complaints from several Khasi youth employees who alleged that they had not been paid their salaries even after the expiry of their contracts in August.
According to the employees, repeated appeals to the management for their due wages had gone unheard, forcing them to seek the assistance of the student body.
The KSU stated that its intervention was aimed at seeking clarification from the company’s management.
Following the visit, the station manager of Inclen Somaarth had explained that the delay was caused by the Puja holidays, during which several staff members responsible for processing the payments had been on leave.
