Competition
In a bid to promote strength, discipline and the spirit of fitness, Bench Press Selection 2025 competition will take place at Deba Kumar Das Memorial Hall, Lumshatsngi, on Saturday. The event will feature multiple weight categories for both men and women. Participants will compete across divisions — Junior, Sub-Junior, Senior, and Masters — with the coveted “Best Lifter Award” recognising exceptional performance and dedication. Organised by MuscleXcess & Fitness Gym, in collaboration with the Meghalaya Powerlifting & Fitness Association, the event will be held under the aegis of Powerlifting India, and recognised by the Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs.
Office-bearers
The Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers’ Association, in a meeting held on November 1 at H. Elias Higher Secondary School, Nongthymmai, Shillong, announced the election of office-bearers. Earlier, the Electoral College was formed and the election of the office-bearers was conducted on October 25, 2025, at Mawkhar Christian Higher Secondary School, Shillong. The office-bearers are Boswell Pala (president), Raynold Basaiawmoit and Elpidius L Marshillong (vice presidents), Barbara Lamin (general secretary), Jishnu Bhattacharjee (treasurer), among others.
Corrigendum
In the report captioned “Library Installation Sparks a Revolution in Raibah Village” published in The Shillong Times on November 3, 2025, some factual inconsistencies have appeared. Randolph Langstieh has not yet completed his PhD and is presently pursuing the same. The event was jointly organised by the Departments of Social Work and Khasi, Captain Williamson Sangma State University (CWSSU), in collaboration with the Department of Music, Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU). It was the MLCU Community Centre for Arts, Crafts and Culture which was involved in the project. The painting at Raibah Upper Primary School was not done by MLCU students; it was carried out by students of Raibah UP School under the guidance of professional artists. Associate Professor and HoD (Retd.) Ailynti Nongbri, who retired from the Department of Khasi, Shillong College, is currently serving as Principal, Thomas Jones Synod College, Jowai. The oral narrative of Raibah village was presented by Phloness Syiemlieh and not by Pynshailang Dohling, who is the Headman of Raibah village. The name of the local musician should read Maestro Chosterfield Khongwir and not “Chesterfield Khongwir.”
