TURA, Nov 5: A member of the ACHIK organisation was found dead on the AMPT road under the Tikrikilla Police Station limits in the wee hours of November 3.
According to police, after receiving information of a person lying unconscious on the road, a team rushed to the spot only to find that the victim had already succumbed to his injuries before the arrival of an ambulance. The deceased was later identified as one, Dipok Marak of Upper Khamari in Tikrikilla.
“The body had multiple injuries and was sent for post-mortem. An investigation is on to ascertain the actual cause of death,” police said.
Police also informed that a case has been registered at Tikrikilla PS U/S 103(1) BNS based on the FIR submitted by the wife of the deceased, Phudim Sangma, and his companion Bernard M Sangma.
Meanwhile, it has also been learnt that the victim was an active member of the ACHIK organisation, holding the post of the organising secretary.
