NEW DELHI, Nov 5: India’s Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the export of 20 metric tonnes of fortified rice from Chhattisgarh to Papua New Guinea, marking a key milestone in India’s efforts to expand its agricultural exports. Fortified rice, blended with micronutrients like iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12, enhances the nutritional value of staple rice and showcases India’s expertise in food fortification.
Chhattisgarh has promoted rice and fortified rice exports, enabling farmers, millers, and exporters to gain international recognition. This shipment highlights the state’s growing contribution to the global nutrition-focused food supply chain and India’s broader agri-export ambitions.
APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev praised the exporter, M/s Sponge Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., and stakeholders for delivering high-quality, nutrition-oriented products. APEDA continues to support exporters through quality assurance, capacity building, value-chain development, and strategic market linkages.
Rice Exporters Association of Chhattisgarh President Mukesh Jain noted that exports could expand to new geographies, reflecting global confidence in India’s supply capabilities. The shipment exemplifies collaboration between APEDA, the Chhattisgarh government, and the private sector in positioning India as a reliable supplier of safe, nutritious food. (IANS)
