NONGPOH, Nov 5: A newly constructed and well-equipped bathroom facility was handed over to the Ri-Bhoi Presbyterian Synod Children’s Home (Girls) in Mawsyntai, Ri-Bhoi district.
The facility was donated by prominent district leader, MG Kharshanlor, as part of his 50th birthday celebration—an expression of gratitude to God and a gesture of giving back to society.
Kharshanlor, accompanied by his wife Vericonia Kharbhih and their two children, was joined on the occasion by leaders of the Ri-Bhoi Presbyterian Synod, including Rev. HL Marsing (president, SELDA), Rev. RK Marsing (moderator, Ri-Bhoi Presbyterian Synod), Rev. DS Roy Muktieh, Rev. BB Markhap and Darisha Mallai, Superintendent of the Children’s Home, among others.
In his address, Kharshanlor recalled that during his 50th birthday celebration on April 20, 2025, held at the Children’s Home, he became aware of the girls’ difficulties due to the lack of a proper bathing facility. Deeply moved by their situation, he and his family decided to construct the bathroom as a small act of thanksgiving for the blessings they had received over the years.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for enabling the successful completion of the project despite several challenges.
With visible emotion, Kharshanlor also paid tribute to his late father, GR Chyne, a senior elder of the Presbyterian Church in Saiden and former teacher at Ri-Bhoi Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, Nongpoh.
The leaders of the Ri-Bhoi Presbyterian Synod, meanwhile, lauded Kharshanlor’s contribution and described the same as a true act of faith and compassion.
