SHILLONG, Nov 7: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Meghalaya on Thursday celebrated the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram—the iconic song that became a rallying cry for India’s freedom movement—with a programme held at the party’s state office.
Party members and supporters from across the state gathered to sing Vande Mataram in unison, paying tribute to Bharat Mata and the spirit of national unity the song embodies.
As part of the commemoration, participants took a pledge for ‘Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar Ghar Swadeshi’, reaffirming their commitment to promoting self-reliance and supporting the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Describing Vande Mataram as more than a song, party members said it continues to symbolise the heartbeat of the nation and the shared resolve to uphold India’s ideals of freedom, unity, and self-reliance.
