London, Nov 8: Everton snapped their three-match winless run in the Premier League with a convincing 2–0 win over Fulham at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday, courtesy of goals from Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane.
The Toffees dominated much of the first half but had to endure frustration after Thierno Barry and James Tarkowski saw their efforts chalked off for offside.
Their persistence, however, paid off in first-half stoppage time when Tarkowski’s header struck the crossbar, and after Tim Iroegbunam’s scuffed attempt, Gueye reacted quickest to drive the rebound past Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
Everton thought they had doubled their lead early in the second half through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, but the midfielder’s strike was also ruled out as Barry was deemed offside in the buildup. Despite those setbacks, David Moyes’ men maintained control for most of the match, restricting Fulham’s attack to a handful of chances. Jordan Pickford produced a sharp save to deny Rodrigo Muniz, while Iliman Ndiaye’s crucial clearance prevented Kevin from equalising from close range. With nine minutes remaining, Everton finally sealed the contest when Keane rose highest to meet Dewsbury-Hall’s corner, glancing his header past Leno to make it 2–0. Fulham attempted a late response through Adama Traore, but Pickford was equal to the task as the home side held firm for a clean sheet. The result lifted Everton to within a point of ninth-placed Crystal Palace, while Fulham’s struggles continued as they hovered just above the relegation zone.
For Moyes’ side, the win provided a timely boost heading into the international break — and a reminder of the resilience still running through the blue half of Merseyside. The victory not only halted Everton’s worrying run of form but also reaffirmed their growing sense of balance and belief under David Moyes. After a string of frustrating results, the Toffees displayed the kind of discipline, intensity, and composure that has often eluded them this season. With key players regaining confidence and the defence looking more assured, the win serves as an important foundation to build upon when league action resumes. (Agencies)
