SHILLONG, Nov 9: Meghalaya’s Akash Kumar Choudhary on Sunday became the first player to hit eight sixes in a row, including six in an over, in First-Class cricket while also recording the fastest half-century in the format, off only 11 deliveries, during a Ranji Trophy Plate Group match against Arunachal Pradesh here on Sunday.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma congratulated Choudhary for the world record, a rare feat that places him alongside cricket legends Sir Gary Sobers and Ravi Shastri.
In a post on social media, the Chief Minister wrote, “Congratulations to Akash Choudhary on achieving a world record by scoring 6 sixes in an over in first-class cricket, equalling the legendary Gary Sobers and Ravi Shastri. Your explosive batting has made Meghalaya proud. Wishing you many more milestones and success in your cricketing journey.”
Choudhary’s record-making performance has brought widespread pride and attention to Meghalaya’s growing presence in Indian domestic cricket.
