Renowned singer-actor Lady Gaga reflected on the negative reviews her film Joker: Folie a Deux received after its release in 2024.
The sequel to Todd Phillips’ Joker saw Gaga taking on the role of Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix, who reprised his Academy Award-winning portrayal of Arthur Fleck, aka Joker.
Despite its anticipated release, the film garnered largely negative feedback from critics and audiences alike. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Gaga expressed that the overwhelming negativity led her to laugh it off, as the situation became increasingly “unhinged.”
She revealed that while she initially found humor in the backlash, she also felt the emotional toll of the criticism, acknowledging the hard work she invested in her character.
This contrast with the original film, which was a blockbuster success, grossing over USD 1 billion worldwide, highlights the varied reception of the sequel. Additionally, the film features Connor Storrie in a pivotal role. (PTI)
