SHILLONG, Nov 16: In a strong critique of the ongoing repair work of the Phramer to Malidor section of national Highway 6, Shillong MP Ricky AJ Syngkon on Sunday delivered a stern rebuke to Purvanchal, the company responsible for the relaying work.
Following a ground inspection, Syngkon decried the firm’s performance as substandard, urging immediate corrective action.
“During the inspection, I found out that the work undertaken by Purvanchal is very poor and not to the mark. On spot verification, I even found out that the width of the road is narrower than the original,” Syngkon stated, making no attempt to soften his displeasure.
He clearly articulated that deviations from the approved specifications would not be tolerated.
“I have told them to ensure the original length and width of the road remains. Although they cited some reasons, I told them to stick to the original road.”
The MP also underscored the environmental implications of the project, cautioning against reckless handling of river systems and debris. “I have asked them to ensure the flow of the rivers should not be affected and debris not dumped on the side of the road,” he said, signalling that environmental negligence would invite further scrutiny.
While acknowledging that the other contractor, Dhar Construction Company, was meeting acceptable standards, Syngkon was unequivocal in his condemnation of Purvanchal’s shoddy work.
