SHILLONG, Nov 16: The Mawryngkneng Dorbar Shnong has urged Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, who holds the Home portfolio, to replace the “irresponsible” police personnel posted at the Mawryngkneng Police Station.
In a letter addressed to Tynsong, Sordar of Mawryngkneng, Peter J. Lawai, stated that the Dorbar Shnong is deeply concerned over the continued negligence and alleged dereliction of duty by the station’s staff.
According to the Sordar, the police personnel have repeatedly failed to respond promptly to various incidents and have not been able to maintain proper law and order in the area.
Lawai noted that despite earlier complaints and representations, there has been “no visible improvement” in the behaviour or performance of the personnel.
He added that the lack of discipline and accountability within the police station has eroded public trust and contributed to an atmosphere of insecurity among residents of Mawryngkneng and neighbouring villages.
The Dorbar Shnong urged Tynsong to replace the present staff with responsible, efficient and dedicated officers capable of upholding the law and ensuring public safety.
The letter emphasised the need for officers who will serve the people with integrity and commitment.
A copy of the letter was submitted to DGP Idashisha Nongrang.
