Simone Ashley-starrer This Tempting Madness to premiere at IFFI

This Tempting Madness, featuring Simone Ashley and Suraj Sharma, is set to have its world premiere at the International Film Festival of India on November 27. Described as a psychological thriller, the film is directed by Jennifer E Montgomery and follows Mia (Ashley), who awakens from a coma after a near-fatal fall to find her past shattered, her husband missing, and her family’s quiet vigilance hinting that the danger she fears may not be entirely behind her, according to a press release. The filmmaker called it a ‘privilege’ to have This Tempting Madness make its debut at IFFI. ‘The film grew out of a close friend’s devastating ordeal. Her unimaginable story is impossible to shake and demanded a cinematic life. This Tempting Madness speaks to the fragility of memory and the terror of losing trust in yourself. (PTI)

Moana live-action remake to hit theatres next year

Disney’s live-action adaptation of the 2016 animated film Moana is set to arrive in theatres on July 10, 2026, featuring Catherine Laga’aia as the titular character. The makers released the teaser of the film on Monday, providing the glimpses of the upcoming film. Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson is reprising his role as Maui. The film is directed by Emmy and Tony Award winner Thomas Kail and produced by Johnson alongside Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia and Lin-Manuel Miranda. It is executive produced by Kail, Scott Sheldon, Charles Newirth and Auli’ i Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the animated features Moana and Moana 2. This film also marks Kail’s feature directorial debut after helming the live film recording of the Broadway production of Hamilton. Moana is also set to feature John Tui, Frankie Adams and Rena Owen in pivotal roles. (PTI)

Renee Zellweger unveils statue of her character Bridget Jones

Renee Zellweger’s popular character Bridget Jones is now a permanent statue in London’s Leicester Square. Zellweger first played the unlucky-in-love Londoner in Bridget Jones’s Diary in 2001. Stars of the latest instalment, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy Leo Woodall, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Sally Phillips joined Zellweger for the unveiling on Monday. ‘I think she’s much cuter than me,’ Zellweger told BBC News about the sculpture, which can be seen clutching the character’s iconic diary and holding a pen. Based on the books by Helen Fielding, the franchise consists of four films which include Bridget Jones (2001), Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004), Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016) and Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, which released in February. The Bridget Jones series follows the chain-smoking, wine-loving titular character through her 30s, 40s and 50s. Colin Firth and Hugh Grant starred as her main love interests as Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver, previously, with Woodall and Ejiofor entering the franchise this year. (PTI)
