MBSI Senior Scientist Award 2025 goes to Prof Amlan Das of RGU

Guwahati, Nov 20: Prof. Amlan Das, a leading microbiologist and Professor
from the Department of Microbiology, The Assam Royal Global University, has been
honoured with the MBSI Senior Scientist Award – 2025 by the Microbiologists Society, India
(MBSI).
The announcement issued on November 19, 2025 lists Prof. Das among this year’s
distinguished awardees, selected for their significant scientific contributions and national-
level impact. He has been recognized under the State Category (Assam) for his extensive
work in microbiology, environmental toxicology, and microplastic-associated disease
mechanisms.
Prof. Das is widely known for his pioneering research on microplastics as emerging
carcinogens, oxidative and nitrosative stress biology, and innovative antimicrobial strategies.
His impactful publications in high-impact journals and contributions to interdisciplinary
biomedical research have earned him visibility both nationally and internationally.
Expressing his delight, Prof. Das stated: “I am deeply humbled and truly honoured to receive
this recognition. My heartfelt gratitude to MBSI for this acknowledgement and to The Assam
Royal Global University for constant support and encouragement.”
Established in 1996, MBSI is one of India’s prominent non-profit scientific organisations
dedicated to advancing microbiology education, research, and public awareness through
conferences, outreach programmes, and a nationwide academic network.
