SHILLONG, Nov 20: The Congress has criticised the NPP for allegedly echoing the ideas and views of the BJP in the state.
The reaction came from MPCC chief Vincent Pala following the NPP’s claim that the outcome of the Bihar elections had weakened the wave the Congress was attempting to build.
“The NPP always tries to become the voice of the BJP, and their favourite target is the Congress, because Congress is the only party that can fight for the preservation of the culture and rights of the people,” Pala said.
Stating that the NPP has no option but to align with the BJP’s thinking, Pala claimed that “if the NPP does not speak against the Congress, the BJP will corner them.”
Pala further said that the Congress is not dependent on voters from Bihar, but on the voters of Garo Hills for the GHADC elections. He added that the people of Meghalaya are “much smarter than anyone.”
On preparations for the GHADC polls, Pala said party leaders are working hard to revive the organisation, adding that many people are expected to join the Congress in Garo Hills by the end of this month.
