GUWAHATI, Nov 24: The Assam BJP has, in the wake of the Delhi blasts, called for institutions run by ‘Miya’ groups in the state to be placed under strict surveillance.
“In order to safeguard Assam’s internal security, it has become absolutely essential to closely monitor the activities of institutions and educational establishments run by Miya Muslim groups across the state. Otherwise, the possibility of highly educated, indoctrinated suicide terrorists finding safe shelter in such institutions just as seen in Haryana’s Al-Falah University cannot be dismissed,” state BJP spokesperson Ranjib Kumar Sarmah said on Monday.
Addressing the media at the party headquarters here, Sharma elaborated on the rising political and social aggression of the ‘Miya’ lobby, while emphasising that not only administrative vigilance but a strong social watch is equally necessary.
“To curb the expansionist designs of Miya elements, inter-district and inter-community infiltration must be checked decisively. The strong steps taken by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to evict illegal encroachers from government land should be viewed as an integral part of this resistance,’ he stated.
On the other hand, the state BJP claimed that Congress leader Ripun Bora has once again exposed Congress’s chronic disease of pseudo-secularism by shamelessly distorting the sacred teachings of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva in the name of ‘Hindu-Muslim harmony.’
“Mahapurush Sankardeva had accepted his close disciple Chand Khan into the fold and inspired him toward spiritual awakening through the teachings of the Bhagavata. Nowhere in Mahapurush’s divine works is there any endorsement for Congress-style minority appeasement,” the party spokesperson said.
“But for Ripun Bora and his Congress brigade prisoners of their vote-bank compulsions appeasement is the only ideology. Hence, misinterpreting the immortal creations of Mahapurush Sankardeva to please the Miya lobby comes as no surprise. The BJP Assam Pradesh strongly condemns this disgraceful act of kneeling before divisive forces masquerading as secularism,’ Sharma said.
