SHILLONG, Nov 25: The Union government has directed the Meghalaya government to conduct ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ for all new projects taken up under the Watershed Mahotsav.
PHE Minister Marcuise Marak, who chaired a meeting on activities under the Watershed Mahotsav, said the Ministry of Agriculture has instructed all states to perform Bhoomi Pujan for new works initiated under the programme. “Since we are a Christian-majority state, we began the process with prayers,” he said, adding that the Meghalaya government is also adhering to the Ministry’s directives on various aspects of the Watershed Mahotsav, including campaigning, plantation drives, and other related activities.
