SHILLONG, Nov 25: The Shillong Cricket Association (SCA) has announced that the 2025–26 season of the 3rd and 2nd Division Leagues will begin on December 1, marking the start of a busy domestic cricket schedule.
This year’s 3rd Division will feature 45 teams, placed into 15 groups of three following a raffle draw conducted by SCA officials.
The competition format remains unchanged: the two finalists will earn promotion to the 2nd Division, the top 16 teams will retain their places, and the remaining sides will be relegated to the 4th Division.
During the captains’ meeting, the SCA underlined that disciplinary standards will be strictly enforced.
Citing last season’s incident where a team was suspended for turning up with only five players, officials warned that any violation of participation, punctuality or conduct norms would invite firm action.
Teams were also reminded to maintain uniform kits in accordance with tournament rules. In an effort to streamline procedures, the association will introduce UPI-based payment for match fees, offering a quicker and more efficient system for all clubs.
With revamped systems and a renewed push for discipline, the SCA hopes the upcoming season will set a higher benchmark for local cricket blending competitiveness with stronger administrative accountability.
