Hit by speeding truck, minor boy dies on Shillong Bypass

SHILLONG, Nov 28: An eight-year-old boy lost his life after being struck by a speeding truck at Pyllun village close to the Umroi Military Cantonment along the Shillong Bypass on Thursday morning.
The fatal incident occurred around 9 am when the child was walking along the roadside on his way to school.
The truck, bearing registration number UP82 BT 5107, was allegedly driven by Girish Chandra.
The driver had initially attempted to flee immediately after the accident. However, the villagers pursued the truck and successfully intercepted it at Umeit village.
The police later took the driver into custody and seized the truck.
