SHILLONG, Dec 2: Former Tura MP Agatha Sangma on Tuesday clarified that the NPP has not taken any formal decision on who will contest the Rajya Sabha seat but made it clear that she is not in the race.
She said she has no intention of contesting and added that the party will take the call, stressing that they would fully support whatever decision the party takes.
The Rajya Sabha seat will fall vacant when sitting member Wanwei Roy Kharlukhi completes his term in June 2026.
Political insiders have indicated that James, the elder sibling of Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, is likely to be nominated by the party to the Upper House.
