Dorjee, Sasha shine as 10th M’laya Tennis Tournament concludes

Shillong, Dec 12: The 10th Meghalaya State Tennis Tournament drew to a successful close on Friday at the Shillong Club Limited Tennis Courts. The tournament, organised by the Meghalaya Tennis Association in partnership with the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, was held from December 10 to 12 and showcased emerging talent as well as experienced contenders.
The event featured four categories — men’s singles, men’s doubles, boys’ under-18 and girls’ under-18 — each delivering tightly contested matches and impressive performances.
In the men’s singles final, Sookhi Dorjee claimed the title after a commanding run, while Ishan Rawat finished as runner-up following a consistent showing throughout the tournament. The doubles crown went to the duo of Rawat and Amit Ram, who combined strongly to secure the top honours. The pair of Sanjeev Chetri and Wankhraw W. Nongrum settled for second place after a competitive outing.
Dorjee completed a memorable campaign by adding the boys’ under-18 title to his tally, sealing his second championship of the tournament. He was followed by Ashish Rawat, who took the runner-up spot.In the girls’ under-18 category, Sasha Kharbulli emerged champion after a confident performance, with Samaira Kharbulli finishing as runner-up, both displaying promising skill and determination.
