SHILLONG, Dec 12: The Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) has widened the reach of its One-Time Settlement Scheme (OTS) 2025-26, bringing consumers under the Distribution Franchisee networks of Mawsynram, Phultan and Nongalbibra into the fold and giving them until December 31, 2025, to clear their dues.
First announced on September 15, 2025, the scheme was conceived as a final window for consumers burdened by longstanding arrears to regularise their accounts. With its latest extension, MePDCL has reaffirmed that all provisions of the scheme remain unchanged, including its applicability to bills generated up to October 11, 2025.
Officials said Distribution Franchisee operators have now been instructed to widely publicise the scheme so that eligible consumers do not miss out on the relief measures being offered. Under the arrangement, MePDCL will scrutinise and verify all outstanding amounts while ensuring that payments collected through the scheme are fully remitted back to the corporation.
By expanding the scheme’s coverage, MePDCL aims to close the year with greater financial clarity and give consumers in remote franchisee zones a final opportunity to settle dues without facing additional penalties.
