SHILLONG, Dec 16: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday called on Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, to review the progress of road infrastructure projects in Meghalaya.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister apprised the Union Minister of the ongoing projects under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) and the Special Accelerated Road Development Programme (SARDP) in the state.
He also proposed the development of a new segment of national highway connectivity within Meghalaya and discussed plans for a proposed high-speed corridor.
The discussions highlighted Meghalaya’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity, improving transport efficiency, and boosting economic growth through upgraded road infrastructure. The meeting also emphasised the need for timely implementation of ongoing projects to ensure smooth movement of goods and passengers across the state.
Later, the Chief Minister also met Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi.
However, details regarding the nature of discussions were not revealed.
