SHILLONG, Dec 20: The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) on Saturday welcomed the state cabinet’s approval of structured pay scales and job security for over 23,000 ad hoc and SSA teachers, calling the decision a long-awaited breakthrough.
MSSASA president Aristotle C Rymbai said the move, announced by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday, addresses demands raised by teachers since 2016. He noted that the approval ends years of uncertainty for the teaching community across the state.
Rymbai thanked the Chief Minister for clearing the Education Department’s proposal, which introduces annual increments and formal job security. He said the decision brings significant relief to thousands of educators who have served under the SSA framework for years.
