SHILLONG, Dec 20: Strengthening and improvement work on the Jowai-Ratacherra stretch of National Highway-6 was completed last month, according to sources.
While the primary roadwork is finished, ancillary projects—including slope stabilization in landslide-prone areas and addressing “black spots”—are ongoing.
“We still have to construct a few culverts, and these works will take about a year to complete,” sources said.
This highway is a critical link between Meghalaya and other North Eastern states. Its deteriorating condition over recent years has led to close monitoring of the project by the High Court of Meghalaya.
