Cop arrested for molesting woman with disabilities
Mumbai, Dec 24: An assistant police sub-inspector posted at the local arms division has been arrested for allegedly molesting a woman with disabilities in a south Mumbai garden, officials have said. The incident took place on Monday at the municipal garden in the Tardeo area near the Mumbai Central railway station, they said. The accused cop allegedly behaved inappropriately when he was sitting in the park with a woman, police said on Tuesday. The complainant took objections, prompting others present at the public place to intervene, they said. The accused cop was subsequently taken into custody by the Tardeo police. A video showing the accused being dragged by his collar to the police station has gone viral on social media. According to officials, the policeman, who has been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, was not on active duty when the incident took place. (PTI)
Leopard enters CRPF camp in J&K’s Anantnag; trooper injured
Srinagar, Dec 24: A leopard entered the CRPF camp on Wednesday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district and injured a trooper inside the camp. Officials said that a leopard entered the Kapran CRPF camp in the district, creating panic and chaos there. “Head constable, Kamleshwar Kumar, was injured in the leopard attack. He was given first aid at the local primary health centre, and his condition is stable. He is back in the camp,” the officials said. Wildlife protection department field staff have been called in to relocate the leopard safely. (IANS)
Noida Airport to be inaugurated in Jan: Adityanath
Lucknow, Dec 24: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said the Noida International Airport at Jewar will be inaugurated in January 2026, adding that it will be the state’s fifth international airport. Speaking on the final day of the Winter session of the state Assembly, the chief minister highlighted the rapid expansion of aviation and transport infrastructure in the state after 2017, with particular emphasis on the upcoming Jewar airport. “Before 2017, there were very few airports in UP. Two of them were operational while the other two were partially functional. “Today, 16 airports are functional. Out of these, four are international airports and the fifth international airport, which will be India’s largest, will be made operational in Jewar next month. This is the speed of Uttar Pradesh,” Adityanath said in the House. (PTI)
