SHILLONG, Dec 31: Former Cabinet Minister and incumbent MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh has stressed the need for all stakeholders, including political leadership and civil society organisations, to come together and arrive at a common ground on important issues confronting the state.
Referring specifically to the long-pending and sensitive issues of the introduction of railways and the reservation policy, Lyngdoh said that despite several rounds of debates and discussions over the years, these matters have failed to reach any meaningful conclusion.
She observed that the absence of consensus has continued to stall decisions on issues that have far-reaching implications for the state’s development and social fabric.
Lyngdoh further pointed out that many issues in Meghalaya tend to revolve largely around emotions rather than informed dialogue and collective understanding.
Emphasising the need for maturity and constructive engagement, the MLA maintained that only through sustained dialogue, mutual respect and a willingness to listen can the state move forward and address its challenges in a balanced manner.
