Body found inside cowshed in JH village

SHILLONG, Dec 31: A body of a man was recovered from a cowshed at Lakasein, Pohbhang, in East Jaintia Hills district on Monday.
According to a press release issued by the Office of the East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police, information was received at around 5:30 pm from Riburorn Paslien of Lakasein, Pohbhang, that a body was found lying in his cowshed under the Mooriap Border Outpost jurisdiction.
Following the information, Inspector Deep Khatri, along with police staff, rushed to the spot for verification and inquiry.
On reaching the location, police recovered the body of a male, identified as late Justin, lying dead inside the cowshed of Riburorn Paslien. However, no local residents were able to identify the deceased.
Subsequently, inquest proceedings were conducted at the spot in the presence of independent witnesses, after which the body was shifted to Khliehriat Civil Hospital, East Jaintia Hills district, for post-mortem examination and identification purposes.
Meanwhile, the body has been kept in the mortuary awaiting identification.
Police described the deceased as approximately 35-40 years of age, about 5.3 feet tall, with chubby cheeks and a tan complexion.
At the time of recovery, he was wearing a red T-shirt, blue jacket, red undergarment and a pair of green trousers. A burn mark was also noticed on the backside of the body.
The address of the deceased, however, is currently not known.
“All concerned who can identify the deceased are requested to immediately contact the noted below contact number of concerned I/O for taking further necessary action from this end,” the press release stated.
