Crans-Montan, Jan 3: Swiss authorities have opened an investigation into the managers of Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana after a devastating New Year’s fire killed 40 people and injured over 100.
Suspected charges include negligent homicide, bodily harm, and causing fire by negligence.
Investigators believe sparkling candles on Champagne bottles ignited the blaze and are examining ceiling materials, fire safety measures, and regulatory compliance.
Officials acknowledged failures in safety or organization and warned of possible prosecutions, while the identification of victims continues, leaving families in anguish. (AP)
