City writer wins Rituporno Ghosh Memorial Award

SHILLONG, Jan 11: Sanjukta Das Purkayastha, a Shillong-based teacher and writer, was conferred the Rituporno Ghosh Memorial Award 2026 at the 7th Kolkata International Micro Film Festival (KIMFF) on Sunday.
The award was presented in recognition of her contribution to the screenwriting competition held during the festival in Kolkata.
Additionally, her story has been selected for inclusion in ‘Bioscope 2026’, KIMFF’s curated collection of film tales. Meanwhile, expressing her gratitude, Purkayastha thanked the organisers for providing an inclusive platform that allows writers from Northeast to be recognised alongside distinguished authors from across the country.
