3 convicted in separate criminal cases in Khliehriat

SHILLONG, Jan 15: The Special Court in Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills, has sentenced three individuals in separate criminal cases, including two life terms for murder and kidnapping.
In the first case, registered under Section 302 of the IPC at Khliehriat Women Police Station, the court convicted Ramesh Dkhar for murder. Special Judge B Khriam sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. The investigation was led by Inspector O Tyngkan.
In another case involving kidnapping for ransom (Section 364A IPC) from 2012, the court found Sanjay Das guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000. The investigation was conducted by Inspector L Lyngkhoi.
In the third case, Apurba Das was convicted under Sections 8 and 10 of the POCSO Act. He was sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment with a Rs 10,000 fine under Section 10, and three years of rigorous imprisonment with a Rs 5,000 fine under Section 8. The investigation was carried out by Sub-Inspector O Nongtdu.
All judgments were delivered by Special Judge B Khriam.
