SHILLONG, Jan 15: A Cabinet Retreat will be held on Friday to discuss the expert committee’s report on the Meghalaya State Reservation Policy.
The retreat will be organised at Orchid Resort, Mawkasiang, New Shillong.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday said the officials have completed their review and the report is ready for discussion in the Cabinet, paving the way for the next steps in shaping the state’s job reservation framework.
He further informed that within a week to ten days, they should be able to announce the timeline for taking this forward.
“The Assembly session will also begin soon, and we hope to present the details directly there,” he said.
The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of reviewing the report thoroughly before taking any decisions.
“Being a very important report, every word matters. Even a comma or a full stop can change the meaning. The Chief Secretary and his team have spent significant time going through every page in detail,” Sangma said.
He described the report as lengthy and comprehensive, noting that its scale required careful examination.
“It is massive, and we had to give the officials adequate time. It would have been incorrect to rush through it, as missing any detail could have major ramifications,” he added.
