Teenager arrested for robbing jewellery store
AHMEDABAD, Jan 17: Police has arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly stealing jewellery worth Rs 1.75 lakh by drilling a hole through the rear wall of a jewellery shop.The stolen booty was also recovered from the possession of Ashwin Khadiya, the accused.Khadiya allegedly committed the theft on the night of January 8, bypassing high-security shutters and breaking through a brick wall.Officials suspected that someone involved in construction or manual labor was involved, given the labor-intensive nature of the crime. Police then focused on labor colonies and also examined the feed of hundreds of CCTV cameras.The crime branch also tracked the suspect’s digital breadcrumbs (trace of online activity) and anticipated that he would try to move the jewellery. A trap was set and Khadiya was arrested on Friday, the official said. (PTI)
Gold worth ₹2.89 cr seized from 3 Burmese at IGI Airport
NEW DELHI, Jan 17: Three Myanmar nationals have been booked after Delhi Customs officers seized over 2 kg of gold worth Rs 2.89 crore from them at IGI Airport.The three male passengers, who arrived from Yangon, were intercepted while crossing the green channel at the international arrivals hall of Terminal 3, an official statement said.“On thorough personal search and baggage examination, 13 gold bars, were recovered from them. The weight of 13 uneven rectangular shaped gold is 2158 grams,” the statement said.According to the officials, the gold recovered was appraised at a tariff value of Rs 2.89 crore. (PTI)
