SHILLONG, Jan 29: Lieutenant General Mohit Wadhwa, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 101 Area, called on the ex-servicemen community of East Khasi Hills to continue serving the nation by motivating the youth to join the Armed Forces.
Speaking as the chief guest at an Ex-Servicemen Rally held at the 58 Gorkha Training Centre in Happy Valley, Lt Gen Wadhwa thanked the veterans, Veer Naris, and Veer Matas for their service and contributions to national security. He encouraged them to remain active participants in nation-building and the development of the state.
The GOC stated that the Armed Forces remain committed to the welfare of veterans and will continue to support their needs and aspirations.
Organised by the Rajya Sainik Board and Headquarters 101 Area, the rally provided assistance regarding medical care, pensions, resettlement, and entrepreneurship. The event featured several initiatives, including the Chief Minister’s ELEVATE programme, legal clinics under the State Legal Authority, and rural banking services.
Veterans also accessed support from the SPARSH pension platform, Project Naman Common Service Center, the Directorate of Resettlement, the Army Recruiting Office, and the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS). Additionally, a medical camp with specialist doctors was set up to provide consultations and essential medical aids to the attendees.
