K’taka Assembly passes resolution against VB-G RAM G Act
BENGALURU, Feb 4: The Karnataka Assembly on Wednesday passed a resolution urging the Centre to immediately repeal VB-G RAM G and reinstate MGNREGA amid walkout by the opposition BJP and its ally JD(S). The resolution was moved by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday, which was accepted by the House today. Opposition Leader R Ashoka said the party opposes the resolution moved by the ruling Congress and supports the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajivika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G). He also reiterated his party’s demand that Excise Minister R B Timmapur should resign as there was a large scale corruption to the tune of Rs 6,000 crore in the Excise Department. The BJP leader on Tuesday alleged that the scam money was used for funding Congress in the poll-bound states. After passing the resolution on VB-G RAM G, Speaker U T Khader adjourned the House sine die. (PTI)
PM on two-day Malaysia visit from Feb 7
New Delhi, Feb 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a two-day visit to Malaysia beginning Saturday to shore up bilateral ties in areas of trade, investment, energy, and maritime security. It would be Prime Minister Modi’s third visit to Malaysia, and the first after the elevation of the India-Malaysia bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in August 2024. During the visit, he will hold bilateral discussions with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said announcing his February 7 to 8 trip. Modi will also interact with members of the Indian community, as well as industry and business representatives, it said. The 10th India-Malaysia CEO Forum is also scheduled to be held coinciding with the visit of the prime minister. (PTI)
