SHILLONG, Feb 5: The State Cabinet on Thursday approved a set of regulations aimed at improving governance, academic planning, and operational efficiency at Captain Williamson Sangma State University.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the regulations address key administrative and academic areas of the university and are intended to bring greater structure and uniformity to its functioning. He said the approved framework provides for a common academic calendar for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, along with clearly defined admission procedures and fee structures for postgraduate departments. The regulations also lay down detailed course structures for master’s degree programmes.
According to the chief minister, separate and specific regulations have been framed for postgraduate programmes in Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, and Library and Information Science, in addition to rules governing the conduct of examinations for master’s programmes across disciplines. He said a total of 11 regulations were approved by the Cabinet, and that their implementation is expected to ensure smoother administration, greater academic consistency, and more efficient management of the university’s academic processes.
