SHILLONG, Feb 5: The Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) has introduced an online facility for property tax payments to improve collection efficiency and reduce queues at physical counters.
Taxpayers can now pay via the official website — http://smb.gov.in — or by scanning the QR code printed on their property tax bills. Payments are accepted through debit cards, credit cards, net banking, and UPI.
The SMB noted that while card transactions may incur applicable charges, UPI payments are free of cost. The Board has urged residents to utilize the online platform for greater convenience and to avoid delays at payment counters.
