SHILLONG, Feb 10: The Meghalaya Joint Council of Trade Unions & Association (MJCTUA) has announced its support for the nationwide general strike scheduled for February 12.
The council cited a “deteriorating economy,” rising unemployment, and perceived attacks on democratic rights and institutions as primary reasons for the protest. It further criticised campaigns of polarisation and efforts to suppress freedom of expression and dissent.
The MJCTUA has called on workers across all sectors in the state to participate in the strike to ensure its success.
