Young Scientist Award in agronomy conferred to USTM faculty member

Ri-Bhoi, Feb 11: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has announced that Saikat Majumdar, Assistant Professor, Department of Rural Development, has been conferred the Young Scientist Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of Agronomy at the International Conference on Modern Agriculture and Allied Sciences, 2025.
The prestigious conference was organised by Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya (UBKV),
Cooch Behar, in association with the Department of Agricultural Engineering, Rajiv
Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh, and the Society for Agriculture, Allied Sciences
and Technology, according to a Press release.

The event witnessed academic collaboration with leading institutions,
including the University of Maryland (USA), Shantou University (China), IIT
Kharagpur, West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences (WBUAFS), Kolkata,
GFSRD India, and the School of Agriculture, SR University, Warangal.

This recognition highlights  Majumdar’s significant research contributions to agronomy
and sustainable rural development, reflecting his commitment to advancing agricultural
sciences through innovative research and field-oriented approaches.

Congratulating him on this achievement, the Chancellor of USTM stated that: Such
recognitions exemplify the university’s strong research ecosystem and its emphasis on
interdisciplinary work that addresses real-world challenges in agriculture and rural
livelihoods.”

The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya has expressed immense pride in its
scientists and student researchers; achievements, reaffirming its commitment to fostering a robust research culture that promotes innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and societal impact.
