Guwahati, Feb 14 : In a significant step towards strengthening its commitment to nation-building through education, The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Army yesterday at the Adjutant General’s Branch, Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence, New Delhi.

The agreement was signed by Brigadier T. M. Sinha, Ceremonial & Welfare Directorate, on behalf of the Indian Army, and Prof. D. N. Singh, Registrar, Academics, on behalf of RGU, according to a Press release.

Under this collaboration, RGU will offer two distinct categories of academic scholarships—Royal Shaurya and Royal Suraksha—aimed at providing quality higher education opportunities to eligible dependents and wards of Indian Army personnel, including serving personnel, ex-servicemen, personnel with disabilities, and those who have died in harness.

In this regard, Prof. DN Singh stated, “RGU is offering ‘Royal Shaurya’ – 100% scholarship for the families of martyrs and gallantry awardees and ‘Royal Suraksha’ – 50% tuition support for wards of serving and retired Indian Army personnel.”

As part of the agreement, the Indian Army will facilitate admissions by informing all its schools, ranks and institutions about the scholarship scheme and ensuring timely forwarding of eligible candidates.

It will designate an officer as a single point of contact to handle policy and administrative matters, clear the names of prospective students based on established criteria, and provide necessary documentation support for verification of eligibility and service credentials.
