ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

COLOMBO, Feb 14: The much-anticipated T20 World Cup encounter between the India national cricket team and the Pakistan national cricket team on February 15 will be played on a previously used strip in Colombo, a development that could significantly shape the contest.
The fixture is scheduled on the same pitch where Zimbabwe stunned Australia by 23 runs on Friday. With visible wear and tear and sizeable square boundaries, Sunday’s surface is expected to be slow, potentially making strokeplay challenging, especially against spin. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha acknowledged that slower bowlers could come into prominence.“It’s possible that spinners dominate here,” Agha said at the pre-match press conference in Colombo. However, he was quick to stress that pace cannot be discounted. “Fast bowling is a skill you can’t write off on any surface. We have quality spinners and also good fast bowlers if required.” (Agencies)
