Jowai Co-op Banks concludes Golden Jubilee celebrations

JOWAI, Feb 26: The Jowai Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd, concluded the celebration of its ‘Golden Jubilee’ marking 50 years (1976–2026) of service to the people. The closing programme was held on 26 February, at the District Library Auditorium, Mynthong, Jowai.
The Golden Jubilee was celebrated throughout the year with various programmes and welfare initiatives undertaken by the Bank for different sections of society to promote growth and development in the Jaintia Hills region.
At the closing function, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), Jowai, Thombor Shiwat, attended as the chief guest, in the presence of the JHADC Executive Member (EM), Moonlight Pariat as guest of hounor, depositors of the Bank, elders, from Jaintia Hills. staff members, and other invited guests.
Assistant General Manager B Pyrngap informed that the Bank has been striving to provide the best possible services to the public and to make banking convenient in accordance with RBI guidelines. He stated that the total deposits have crossed Rs. 200 crore and thanked the consumers for their continued support, urging them to further strengthen the Bank in all aspects.
The Vice Chairman highlighted that the Bank was established by the political leaders of the District Council under the leadership of the then CEM (L) J D Pohrmen, and described the Bank as a great blessing to the people, from the poor to the well-off.
In his speech, chief guest Thombor Shiwat praised the Jowai Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd for successfully completing 50 years of dedicated service and expressed hope that it would continue to grow in the years to come. He said it was not easy for the Bank to earn the trust of its customers, and credited the hard work and sense of responsibility of the Bank staff towards the public for its success.
Moonlight Pariat urged continued efforts to attract more customers and depositors, who are the main pillars of support for the Bank.
The programme also featured the release of a souvenir, cake-cutting by the chief guest, and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque marking the 50th anniversary. The event was further enlivened with songs and traditional dances.
