SHILLONG, Feb 27: Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker, Thomas Sangma, on Friday informed that the contractor has been asked to work round the clock to ensure the new Assembly building is completed by June or July, as the next session is due in August.
With the deadline approaching, many materials required for the project are currently on their way to the state to maintain a steady pace of construction.
Sangma also noted that a US-based firm, which previously executed work in the Parliament, is undertaking the interior work for the new Assembly building.
The budget allocated specifically for the main hall of the new complex is Rs 30 crore.
