SHILLONG, March 2: A patrolling team from Dawki Police Station apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals and a local driver during routine checks near the border on Sunday evening.
West Jaintia Hills SP Jagpal Singh Dhanoa on Monday identified the foreign nationals as Monirul Biswas and Lovely Khatun, both residents of Bhombag village in the Narail District of Bangladesh. Police also detained a Maruti S-Presso (ML 05AG 7472) and arrested the driver, Pynshaibha Khaii, a resident of Wahsarang village in East Jaintia Hills.
A case has been registered at Dawki Police Station under relevant sections of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025. The accused are scheduled to be produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class at Amlarem for further legal proceedings.
