TURA, March 8: Parents and guardians at Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills, have expressed dismay over the severe inconvenience they faced while signing necessary documents at the school campus after the completion of this year’s SSLC exams, citing alleged negligence by the authorities.
“We were asked to report to the school campus on 8th March 2026 at 1:00 pm to sign the necessary documents and collect our children after the completion of their SSLC Final Examination 2026. Accordingly, all the parents and guardians arrived at the school on time, as per the schedule. However, it is a matter of great regret that no arrangements were made for the parents and guardians to sit, either inside or outside the campus. Despite the fixed reporting time, there was no response or coordination from the school authorities, particularly the In-charge Principal. As a result, the parents and guardians had to wait for several hours without any information. Ultimately, it was only around 6:30 pm that we were allowed to complete the formalities and take our children home,” they said.
According to the complainants, they were previously informed that two staff members would be deputed to complete the necessary paperwork, but no staff were assigned for this purpose.
The parents also alleged insensitive and insulting behaviour from certain staff members, claiming that about 20 boys remained hungry during the examination period because no proper food arrangements were made.
“Such negligence and lack of responsibility from the school administration have caused immense inconvenience to both the students and their parents or guardians. We believe that the Principal, being the head of the institution, holds the responsibility for the welfare and proper management of the students and related arrangements,” they said, urging the concerned authorities and the government to investigate the matter.
