SHILLONG, March 8: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has raised concerns over the prolonged impasse at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), stating that the crisis is harming the interests of students from Meghalaya.
In a statement, the party condemned the recent attack on the university’s Registrar by masked miscreants, calling it an unfortunate incident that has tarnished the institution’s image.
The VPP noted that since the majority of NEHU students are from Meghalaya, any disruption directly impacts the academic environment and the future of the state’s youth. It further stated that the deadlock stemming from the Vice-Chancellor remaining in office has created uncertainty and prolonged the crisis.
Urging for urgent intervention to restore normalcy, the party stressed that the university’s reputation and the welfare of its students must be prioritised in resolving the situation.
