SHILLONG/AMPATI, March 11: The ‘A•chik Baptist Dal•gipa Krima No. IV’ has called on residents to participate in a special prayer service to restore peace and harmony in Garo Hills.
In a statement, the Tura-based association urged the public to unite in prayer to end communal tension and support those affected by recent unrest. It also called for prayers for authorities and individuals working to stabilise the region.
The church body stated that collective prayer and unity are essential to healing divisions and restoring normalcy across the Garo Hills.
Separately, the Mother’s Union, Tura, has appealed to the public to refrain from vandalism and antisocial activities. The group noted that the postponement of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections provides an opportunity to follow due process and address concerns regarding election rules through dialogue. “Violence will not help achieve anything,” the union stated, adding that as mothers, they seek lasting peace and a stable future for their children.
