Govt effects major bureaucratic rejig; Sampath Kumar gets Addl CS rank

SHILLONG, March 17: The state government has effected a major bureaucratic reshuffle, promoting Principal Secretary Sampath Kumar to the rank of Additional Chief Secretary.
Upon taking charge, Kumar will oversee the Community & Rural Development, Social Welfare, Health & Family Welfare, and Programme Implementation & Evaluation departments.
He also continues to function as the Resident Commissioner at Meghalaya House, New Delhi, Ex-Officio Additional Development Commissioner, CEO of MBDA, and Development Commissioner, among other responsibilities.
In the same reshuffle, R. Chitturi, previously Additional Secretary, has been posted as Secretary to the Finance, C&RD, Health, Planning, Social Welfare and Power departments.
He will also continue as the Mission Director of the National Health Mission, CEO of the Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Society, and Managing Director of Meghalayan Medical Drugs and Services Ltd.
Similarly, A. Nikhla has been promoted to Secretary for Home (Passport) and Legal Metrology, while TG Momin will take over as Secretary to the Personnel & AR Department. Momin also remains the Secretary of the Meghalaya Farmers (Empowerment) Commission.
Additionally, Eastern West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Anita Kharpor will continue in her current post with the elevated rank of Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya.
