Tura, Mar 20: The Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) is set to hold a special session this upcoming Mar 23-24, apparently to work on the order to decide on the mandatory nature of a ST certificate to contest the upcoming polls to the Council.

The development comes in the wake of a new Executive Committee that was formed a few days ago following the resignation of the previous CEM, Albinush Marak. Marak made way for Dhormonath Sangma who is leading the current government in the GHADC.

The session comes following a notification by the commissioner and secretary, District Council Affairs for the Governor of Meghalaya.

The 2 day session will begin at 11 AM on Mar 23 and will be held at the District Council Hall, Tura.
