Shillong, March 25: In a remarkable achievement for the state, young athlete Anrisha Klein clinched the bronze medal in the Under-20 high jump event of the inaugural National Indoor Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar, marking a significant milestone in her budding career.
What makes the feat even more noteworthy is the fact that Anrisha has been undergoing structured training for barely three months.
Competing in an indoor event—vastly different from the more familiar outdoor conditions—she rose to the occasion with confidence and composure, clearing a height of 1.60 metres to secure a place on the podium.
Hailing from Ri-Bhoi district, Anrisha’s success has brought pride to both the state and the athletics association.
Officials lauded not only her determination but also the dedicated efforts of chief coach Daisy Marwein and the coaching staff involved in preparing athletes for the upcoming National Games 2027.
The Meghalaya Athletics Association also expressed its gratitude to the Directorate of Sports for extending crucial financial support, which enabled the team’s participation in the competition.
With this promising start, Anrisha’s performance signals a bright future ahead, as the state continues to nurture emerging talent on the national stage.
