Bengaluru, March 31: In a landmark moment that once again underlined his enduring greatness, Virat Kohli became the first batter in the history of the Indian Premier League to surpass 4,000 runs in successful run chases.
The milestone was achieved during the IPL 2026 season opener between defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday, adding yet another chapter to Kohli’s remarkable legacy in the tournament.
The right-hander, long regarded as one of the finest chasers in modern-day cricket, reached the feat with characteristic composure, reinforcing his reputation as a dependable figure in pressure situations.
In the process, Kohli also climbed further up the all-time charts in T20 cricket, overtaking former Pakistan batter Shoaib Malik to become the sixth-highest run-scorer in the format. (Agencies)
